Weekend Planner: March 25-27

It may have been a week full of cold, rain, snow and hail–but it’s going to be a great weekend for flowers! Check out this year’s Broadway-themed Orchid Show at the New York Botanical Garden, or head to Herald Square on Sunday for the first day of the annual Macy’s Flower Show!

It’s also a great weekend for jazz, as Jazz at Lincoln Center presents What Is The Big Band Era?; Smoke Jazz and Supper Club hosts its kid-friendly Swingin’ Saturday Sandbox brunch featuring vocalist Lea Delaria; the Jazz Standard serves up Blue Smoke barbecue and tunes from the Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra; and the Alex Levin Trio invites young musicians to bring their instruments and take part in an evening jam at the Manhattan Youth Downtown Community Center. —

We’re also excited to hear Grammy award nominee Justin Roberts And The Not Ready For Naptime Players rock Symphony Space; to take part in Wave Hill’s fun, feathery family art project, "The Bird Gets Into The Mobile!"; to catch the New York International Children’s Film Festival‘s closing weekend; and to satisfy our sweet tooth at the World’s Largest Bake Sale, hosted by Sandra Lee at Grand Central Terminal on Tuesday.
