A clear sign that the vegan revolution is gaining traction (at least on the sweet tooth front): Fernanda Capobianco, the wife of famed pastry chef Francois Payard, the legendary French restaurant and bakery which graced the Upper East Side for many years, has recently opened Vegan Divas at First Avenue near 75th Street. The menu includes chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon doughnuts, blueberry lemon muffins, and cakes of all varieties as well as many mousses—all of which are 100% natural, high on fiber, and low on cholesterol. We can’t think of a better way to indulge in “smart” sweets.
