New-York Haunted Society's Superheroes/Supernatural Halloween Bash
Help your little one channel their inners powers to become the greatest superhero at the NY Historical Society’s annual family Halloween bash! In conjunction with the ongoing exhibit “Superheroes in Gotham,” this fun event will have trick-or-treat bags, a real-life strong-man, fortune tellers, and super-villain trivia! It’s the perfect way to celebrate All Hallows’ Day in a non-spooky way! (Friday) -
Asphalt Screams at Asphalt Green
Wear your spookiest costumes for an afternoon of Halloween fun at Asphalt Screams. This event for the whole family will be held at both Asphalt Green locations: on the Upper East Side and in Battery Park City. Expect to have a lot of treats, some tricks, and plenty of Halloween games, such as a Spooktacular Soccer Shootout and a Haunted Mazur Hall. (Friday) -
Winter Village at Bryant Park
Visit the Winter Village, a New York City holiday classic at Bryant Park, and see the park transformed into a winter wonderland! Bring your family and friends to enjoy ice skating at the Parisian-style rink or enjoy the spectacular skating shows. Then take a break by strolling through more than 125 European-inspired, “jewel-box” designed holiday shops. This season of the Winter Village will kick off with a ribbon-cutting by the New York Islanders on Friday at 5pm, and will offer trick-or-treating at the holiday shops on Saturday from 1-4pm. "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the New Victory Theater
Benjamin Britten’s operatic staging of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is coming to the New Victory Theater! Starting this Friday, South Africa’s Isango Ensemble will perform the Bard’s comedy with a twist of South African music. Ages 9 and up will be enchanted by this magical musical of love, merrymaking, and mischief. (Opens Friday) -
Big Apple Circus--Halloween Performance
The Big Apple Circus will welcome guest ringmaster and beloved children's author R.L. Stine for a special Halloween performance at 4:30pm! Children who arrive in costume will receive a free candy or popcorn voucher. Following the show, there will be a kids' costume contest and parade with a special prize for the winner! (Saturday) -
Monster Mash at the Brooklyn Children's Museum
The Brooklyn Children’s Museum invites you and your kids to Monster Mash, an all-day, all ages event to celebrate Halloween. Kids can touch a creepy crawler, explore skeletons and skulls, touch sharp sea creatures, listen to a slithering tale, make your own trick-or-treat tote bag, and more. The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) will be the happenin’ place to be this Halloween when it hosts BAMboo! for the 14th year. This year’s theme, Monster Mash, will feature costumed characters such as Frankenstein and Dracula, and festivities will include carnival games, stilt walkers, arts and crafts, a candy giveaway, a costume contest, live DJ music, and more. Halloween Celebration at the American Museum of Natural History
Spend the afternoon of All Hallows’ Eve at the American Museum of Natural History during its Halloween Celebration. LC Trick-or-Treat: Monsters and Music at Lincoln Center
This Saturday, join Lincoln Center for a Halloween extravaganza unlike any other. All ages are invited to dress in their best costumes and go trick-or-treating, create terrifyingly terrific crafts, and strike a spooky pose in the photo booth. At noon, a stilt walker from the Big Apple Circus and jazz band Sammy Miller and the Congregation will lead a costume parade. Plus, authors R.L. Stine and Marc Brown will discuss, read, and sign copies of their new book Little Shop of Monsters (recommended for ages 3-6). Finally, ages 8 and up can enjoy a screening of 1931’s “Frankenstein” presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center. (Saturday) -
42nd Annual Village Halloween Parade
The Annual Village Halloween Parade is back! There will be hundreds of puppets, 53 bands, dancers, artists, and thousands of New Yorkers in costume. If you are in costume, you can enter the lineup at Canal Street and Sixth Avenue. (Saturday) -
Park Slope Children's Halloween Parade
It is the oldest children’s Halloween parade in the country! The Park Slope Children's Halloween Parade will start at 7th Avenue and 14th Street, and then finish at Old Stone House and Washington Park (at 3rd Street and 5th Avenue). There will also be a costume contest and music by Brooklyn’s Mash It Up party band. (Saturday) -
Día de los Muertos Weekend at the New York Botanical Garden
In honor of the final weekend of its current exhibit “Frida Kahlo: Art Garden, Life,” the New York Botanical Garden will host its second and final Día de los Muertos Celebration this weekend! Garden visitors can enjoy a parade of giant skeletons, live music, stilt dancers, and more. Craft activities include mask making and face painting. "Goodnight Moon and the Runaway Bunny" at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts
Margaret Wise Brown’s beloved children’s books Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny will be brought to the stage by the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia this Sunday.
