    Give Regular Oats A Taste Of Pumpkin Pie For A Yummy Fall Breakfast

    For anyone looking to add some extra oomph to breakfast this fall, this recipe from Cooking Classy transforms regular oats with a taste of pumpkin pie.

    Ingredients (makes one serving)

    • 1/2 cup rolled oats
    • 2/3 cup milk
    • 1/4 cup buttermilk
    • 1/4 cup canned pumpkin puree
    • 1 Tbsp light-brown sugar
    • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
    • 1 pinch nutmeg
    • 1 pinch ginger
    • 1 dash salt
    • 1 – 2 Tbsp caramel sauce or caramel ice cream topping
    • 1 Tbsp chopped walnuts or pecans, optional


    In a large microwave safe bowl, whisk together oats, milk, buttermilk, pumpkin puree, light-brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt.

    Microwave mixture on high for 3 1/2 minutes, then allow oatmeal to rest a few minutes. (For a thinner consistency, pour in additional milk or use half and half instead of buttermilk.)

    Drizzle oatmeal with caramel sauce and sprinkle with optional chopped nuts. Serve warm.
