A Red Is A Red

Whether you’re dining in or visiting one of your favorite
romantic restaurants
, we know that many couples will want to clink their flutes
or wine glasses while they share a bottle of something special. To help find a
wine perfect for the occasion, we chatted asked Astor Wines & Spirits sales
associate Nima Ansari-Bahmani for his favorite wines at every price point (all
of which are available at Astor Wines, located Lafayette and
East 4th Street). Cheers!

*You Are So Bubbly,
Chaussard,
White, 18.99
An extremely pretty and aromatic bubbly that is perfect for a
spring afternoon. The nose sings out with white flowers, acacia honey, and
succulent stone fruit notes. The palate seems ever so slightly off%u2011dry, only
because the fruit flavors are so ripe and juicy.

*Touraine Gamay “Boudinerie”, Noella Morantin, Red, 18.99
This pleasant Gamay coming from vineyards
formerly owned by Clos Roche Blanche. This bright with red fruit. It’s lush
with herbal essences.

*Hesketh “The
Proposition” McClarenvale Sparkling,
Rosé, 13.99
This charming, blush sparkler, made from a blend
of Chardonnay, Semillon and
Shiraz, has fragrant dried
strawberries on the nose and sweetness on the palate that reminds you of a bowl
of ripe, fresh strawberries.

*Sparkling
Blanc “Ze Bulle”, Zéro Pointé,
White, 10.96
A lightly sparkling (pétillant), honey%u2011colored white wine made
from Chenin Blanc. The aromas and dose of sweetness will amaze. Think
wildflowers, yellow mirabelle plums, and tangy Meyer lemons. The acidity and
mineral are just the right balance for the nice sparkle on the tongue.”

*Petit
Amour, VdP de Vaucluse,
4.96
This Vin de Pays is a blend of red grapes, with
a friendly appeal that makes it a great “house red.” If you’re
throwing a dinner party, this rustic red will go with just about any dish
you’re serving.
