New York City Poetry Festival on Governors Island
Children ages 2-18 are invited to Governors Island for the NYC Children’s Poetry Festival (part of the New York City Poetry Festival)! During this weekend of inspiration, communication, and fun, kids are invited to share their original work on the kids-only stage. For younger children, there will also be book readings, a Poetree Forest (a land of balloons that children can illustrate and write poems on), plus a handmade teepee village to inspire young imaginations. Lincoln Center Out of Doors Family Day
Family Day hosted by Lincoln Center Out of Doors means a day packed with dancing, music, and entertainment from dawn till dusk. Start off with a toddler dance party set to ’70s and ’80s disco tunes, admire live dancers and violinists, and wrap up your busy afternoon with more dancing at the Josie Robertson Plaza and a concert by Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer Randy Newman and his band. Grammy-winner Dan Zanes will perform his only big outdoor show of the summer on July 25 at the Bronx Zoo! Come hear his band Dan Zanes and Friends perform their acclaimed 21st Century social music, reflecting a broad range of influences including sea shanties, North American and West Indian folk music, early rock-and-roll, and more. Performances will be held at 11:30am and 2pm, and the show is free with admission to the Zoo! (Saturday) -

The High Bridge, NYC’s oldest-standing bridge, is celebrating a historic reopening next Saturday on both the Manhattan and Bronx sides of the Harlem River.
