The Vincent Smith School Board of Trustees today announced the appointment of John Baldi as the new Head of School, effective July 1.
John Baldi has been named the New Head of School at Vincent Smith School in Port Washington, effective July 1. Baldi takes over for Arlene Wishnew, who is retiring after holding the post for 35 years.
Baldi was formerly the director of finance at Kew-Forest School, a pre-K through 12 independent school in Queens. He served as both a senior administrator and a faculty member, having been involved in all aspects of education, administration, and facilities management. He has served on numerous school board committees, including the New York State Association of Independent Schools accreditation teams and as treasurer of a small, educational, nonprofit organization.
Baldi earned his B.A. accounting degree from Queens College, his M.S. in education from St. John’s University, and is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in instructional leadership. His research and thesis involve the effect of introducing science, technology, engineering, and math education to middle school students.
Baldi resides on Long Island with his wife Theresa, a special education teacher for the NYC Department of Education, and is the father of two children, Nicolas and Olivia.
