It’s a new season of concerts, beginning with “Vocal Currents” at the Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center on Nov. 3.
Presented by the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, this program features eight Chorus commissions, including five world premieres by Douglas Cuomo, Michael Gordon, Yuka Honda, Francisco J. Núñez, Arturo O’Farrill, Robert Xavier Rodriguez, Tim Sharp, and Nils Vigeland, and a sixth world premiere by Eve Beglarian.
Featuring the distinct quality of children’s voices, the series challenges composers to express in music for young people the currents of thought and feeling that animate our lives today.
“Vocal Currents,” Nov. 3 at 8 pm. Tickets are $25 and $15 for students; suitable for all ages.
