Play It Again Sports, new to East Northport, sells both new and used sporting goods. Although it specializes in team sports such as hockey, lacrosse, baseball, softball, figure skating, and other fitness equipment, customers can bring in their used equipment from any sport.
There are three options when dealing with used goods. The first option is to sell the gear outright to Play It Again Sports for 30 percent of the retail price in cash. The second option is to trade the equipment for store credit worth 48 percent of the retail price that is applied to purchases made in the store. The last option is to place your items on consignment at the store; with this option the store pays you 60 percent of its retail price once the item sells.
With one location in Carle Place, Play It Again Sports has just opened a new store at 1931 C Jericho Turnpike in East Northport. The new store’s hours are Monday through Friday 10am to 8pm, Saturday 10am to 6pm, and Sunday 11am to 5pm. 631-499-4911. www.playitagainsportscarleplace.com.
With a mission to “deliver a positive training experience that improves speed of movement and strength in character regardless of ability or economic status,” Parisi Speed School trains athletes from 7 years of age to the pros.
The school allows athletes to improve their athletic performance and develop a higher level of self-confidence by using the Training Pyramid. Athletic foundation includes speed, strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, coordination, injury prevention, nutrition, and mental toughness. The size of the base of the pyramid determines the height that the pyramid can reach, so if the base is sound it will lead to a higher level of performance. It is proven that Active Dynamic Warm-Up helps to prevent ACL and other injuries, and the Parisi School believes that training is a year-round commitment. One-hour sessions can be scheduled any day of the week.
Parisi Speed School can be found at Gold’s Gym, 181 Freeman Avenue in Islip. 631-236-4670. www.parisischool.com.
