Join The NYC Dads Group For Two Great Events

Our friends at the New York City Dads Group are hosting two upcoming events about masculinity and fatherhood that you won’t want to miss on Wednesday, May 27, and Tuesday, June 2. Screen-Shot-2013-12-18-at-2.59.28-PM

First–on Wednesday, May 27, along with the PS/IS 276 PTA and the Hudson River Park Mothers Group , they are co-sponsoring a screening of “The Mask You Live In,” a documentary from the Representation Project that follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while navigating American ideals of masculinity.

A must-see for parents of boys, the film will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by our editor, Eric Messinger, and featuring  Nico Victorino, Assistant Principal and Middle School Director at PS/IS 276; Mark Greene, Executive Editor of The Good Men Project and author of Remaking Manhood; and Dr. Saliha Bava, a couples and family therapist in private practice in Manhattan and an associate professor at Mercy College.

The screening will run from 7:30-10pm, and be held in the PS/IS 276 Auditorium. Content is not suitable for children under 16.Tickets are $15; all proceeds benefit PS/IS 276. To purchase tickets, click HERE.

g_060215_levs_schneiderOn Tuesday, June 2, NYC Dads Group co-founder Matt Schneider will interview CNN reporter, author, and journalist Josh Levs about his new book, All In: How Our Work-First Culture Fails Dads, Families, and Businesses—and How We Can Fix It Together, at the 92Y as part of the Parenting Center series on fatherhood.

The talk, “All In: How Being an Engaged Father is Good for Business, Family and Everyone” will start at 6:30pm in the Weill Art Gallery. Tickets start at $20. To purchase tickets, click HERE.

Adventuring Portal

<p><a name="m_-1473885667065203258__Hlk72147528"></a>Adventuring Portal runs Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) games for kids.   We have created a safe online space for tweens and teens to learn and play D&D.</p> <p>Our D&D Summer Camp session are a one-week experience.  Monday – Friday.  Each day will be 3 hours of gaming (with 2 breaks build in).  15 total gaming hours for $180.  If you have played with us before, you are entitled to 10% off.   </p> <p>Need your kids, nieces or nephews, grand kids or neighbor’s kids to be occupied for a bit so you can get work done & take care of your to-do list? Maybe your tween or teen is still a bit isolated and craves connection with their peers? Whether your teen/tween has played D&D before or is brand-new to the experience, this safe space brings players together to have fun and solve problems as a team in ways few other online opportunities do.</p> <p>All our games focus on experiential learning.   Our players leave knowing all the basic game play as well as experiencing: teamwork, bravery, compassion, generosity, negotiation, improvisation, gamer etiquette, strategy, critical thinking, problem solving, cartography and probability - all through online D&D adventuring!</p> <p>We are an inclusive organization and welcome gamers who are LGBTQIA+ and those on any spectrum. </p> <p>All girls’ groups available. </p> <p>I am a parent, a certified elementary school and middle school math teacher and last summer in the midst of the mess started Adventuring Portal, an online Dungeons & Dragons business for kids.
