Applying your child to pre-K this upcoming fall? If your child turns 4 this year, he or she is eligible for free pre-Kindergarten at either a public school or a site run by a community organization. It’s an exciting time, but it can also be really hard to know how to judge the quality of available programs, and which is best for your family.
On Thursday, February 11, join Clara Hemphill and the staff of Insideschools for a pre-K workshop that will take you through the admissions process. Topics covered will include:
- The difference between childcare and pre-Kindergarten
- Choosing between a public school and an early education center
- What to look for when you visit
- Where the available seats are
- How and when to apply
- What happens if there isn’t a slot for your child?

The event will be held from 6-8pm at The New School’s Theresa Lang Community & Student Center, Arnhold Hall, 55 West 13th Street (between 5th and 6th avenues), 2nd floor. Tickets are $32.50.
