Hair Care Hack: Dry Shampoo

All busy moms want to look polished and put together, yet we usually have a precious few moments to get ready in the morning. Often, if it takes longer than five minutes, it’s just not happening.

Here are some hair care solutions that will help your hair look less greasy, more voluminous and smelling great in minutes, even when there is no time to shower.

  • Pssst! Instant Dry Shampoo

    Pssst! Instant Dry Shampoo

     Pssst! Instant Dry Shampoo is the original dry shampoo and has become a cult product in the beauty world. It does leave a bit of white residue on the hair which can easily be combed through but it soaks up any oil in the hair, making it look like it is clean when it’s not. Purchased at any drugstore, Pssst! is a cheap and quick fix for grease. I keep a mini version in my travel bag.
  • Batiste Dry Shampoo

    Batiste Dry Shampoo

     Batiste Dry Shampoo is a British import that can be found at many drugstores and is also affordable and effective. It comes in a few different delicious scents (my favorite is Cherry) as well as tinted in light, medium, and dark colors that can help disguise any grays that may be popping up.
  • Treseme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo

    Treseme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo

     I love Treseme products, maybe it’s because my mom used them, or maybe it’s because you can buy a giant bottle of their conditioner for under $10 at Target. Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo (comes in strengthening and soothing formulas as well) is another great drugstore dry shampoo, soaks up oil, and has the added bonus of imparting volume to flat hair, as well as has their signature Treseme fresh apple-ish smell.
  • Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion

    Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion

     Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion is not a dry shampoo per see but it is a great salon product for someone who has thin, limp hair and wants to add volume in a hurry. You add a few drops of the powder into dry hair at the root, the product magically transforms into a lotion and makes your hair look and feel thick with a matte texture.
  • Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

    Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

     Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray is yet another cult product worth the hype and its costly price tag. Though not technically a dry shampoo, this “invisible dry hair spray” is meant to refresh your hairstyle, it smells incredible almost like an expensive perfume and generally makes your hair look better, more voluminous, shiny and polished. I would bath in the stuff if I could—it’s divine.
  • Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Finish Spray

    Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Finish Spray

     Another terrific salon option that adds lots of volume and texture to dry hair is Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Finish Spray. Very similar to the Oribe and slightly less expensive, I always grab a mini of this while waiting in the checkout line at Sephora.
  • Lulu Organics Hair Powder

    Lulu Organics Hair Powder

     I first bought Lulu Organics Hair Powder for its irresistible old-timey packaging, as well as its earthy Patchouli and Amber scent (I am a sucker for any woodsy smells) but this product is also noble, 100 percent organic, talc free, gluten free, and handmade. It is perfect for pregnant or nursing moms wary of chemicals in their hair-care products. It also comes in these amazing scents: Lavender and Clary Sage, Jasmine, and Vetiver and Pepper.
