Welcome to spring! Though it might have been hard to imagine this past weekend, soon the city will be in bloom and New Yorkers will be taking to the streets to enjoy warmer weather. With Easter coming up this Sunday, there are lots of egg hunts and other celebrations happening around town (see our full round-up here). But outside the holiday, the newest exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History shows us how dinosaurs are, actually, all around us, and Theatreworks will perform the zany “Seussical” show at the Kaye Playhouse this weekend. Enjoy!
Beginning Monday, March 21
“Dinosaurs Among Us” Exhibit
The American Museum of Natural History
10am-5:45pm
There is a high likelihood that you have encountered a dinosaur at some point over the past few days. That pigeon asserting its space on your block? The Laughing Gull of the Rockaways? New York City’s own House Sparrow? All three of these birds–and thousands more–share a common ancestor: The dinosaur. Yes, dinosaurs may be extinct, but their legacy lives on–in modern birds. This theory is at the heart of “Dinosaurs Among Us,” a new exhibition at the American Museum of Natural History that explores the evolutionary link between ancient dinosaurs and modern birds. The exhibition, located on the Museum’s 4th floor, features ancient fossils, life-like models of both a tyrannosaur and a dromaeosaur, and fun interactives for the entire family. Runs through January 2, 2017. Free with museum admission.
