Hello, October!  Fall has officially arrived, even though the gorgeous warm weather continues, making this the perfect week to take in one or more of our picks. We have a spectacular smorgasbord of sensational events sure to please. Robin Hood rules, Seoul struts its stuff, Story Pirates perform, marine science mesmerizes,and medieval times cast a merrye olde spell. Enjoy!

Thursday, October 1

New York Family Independent School Fair
John Jay College, at 524 West 59th Street
3:30-6:30pm
For New York City parents interested in nursery schools and private on-going schools (K and up), New York Family’s Independent School Fairs are a great resource to discover a big host of schools and get your questions answered about the application process. Admissions directors will be available to speak informally and provide up-to-date information about their schools and admissions. The Fairs are free, family-friendly, and children of all ages (including infants and toddlers) are welcome. The next Fair will be held this Thursday, October 1, on the Upper West Side at John Jay College, at 524 West 59th Street, from 3:30-6:30pm. This event is free.

“Robin Hood”
New Victory Theater

Looking for an action-packed, swashbuckling, theater show this weekend? The New Victory Theater has just the ticket! The Seattle Children’s Theatre will present their production of  “Robin Hood” beginning this Friday. A cast of four actors will play every role during this one-hour-and-forty-minute performance. This tale of England’s most famous thief will enthrall audiences ages 7 and up. Tickets start at $15. Runs weekends through Sunday, October 11.

Visiting Exhibit: “Heart and Seoul”
Brooklyn Children’s Museum
10am-5pm
Learn all about South Korean culture when you visit the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. This Saturday, the museum will open its special, visiting exhibit “Heart and Seoul,” throughout which all ages will gain an understanding of what it’s like to live in the planet’s “most wired country.” Plus children can engage in daily activities such as storytelling, arts and crafts, dance and drum performances, food tastings, and more. Free with museum admission. Runs through Sunday, January 3, 2016.

Saturday, October 3

The Story Pirates
Symphony Space
11am & 2pm
Let the Story Pirates take your kids on an epic storytelling adventure at Symphony Space this Saturday! Using ideas from the audience, this improv group will weave tales into songs that’ll leave children howling with laughter. These two performances will kick off the new season of Symphony Space’s “Just Kidding” family series. Show runs approximately one hour. Tickets are $15.

Submerge: NYC Marine Science Festival
Hudson River Park
11am-4pm
Whether your children are budding marine biologists or just love water, you’ll want to take them to Hudson River Park on Saturday for the Submerge festival. All ages can enjoy interactive science projects, catch-and-release fishing, science demos, kayaking, live musical performances, food, and much more during this afternoon that’s designed to raise public awareness about coastal waters. This event is free.

Sunday, October 4

The Medieval Festival
Fort Tryon Park
11:30am-6pm
Travel back in time to the Middle Ages during the Medieval Festival in Fort Tryon Park. This Sunday, the park will be transformed into a medieval market town complete with processional flags and banners! Fest-goers are invited to dress up in traditional costumes and enjoy live music, magic shows, dancing, and jousting. Crafts and food will be available for purchase at festival vendor stalls. Admission is free.

Battle in dungeons, search for relics, and make new friends in our one-of-a-kind Dungeons & Dragons workshop! </p> <p dir="ltr"> </p> <p dir="ltr">Public games meet once per week, with different groups every time. Private games meet 1 to 2 times per week with the same group of kids. A great way to introduce young children to D&D so they can eventually move onto the main game.</p>

Polaris Productions Theater Camp

<p>Kids will learn, rehearse, and perform the wonderful Maurice Sendak and Carole King musical, Really Rosie. For 10 weekdays, campers will take part in physical and vocal warm-ups and learn choreography, staging, and vocal parts. They’ll develop skills in acting, singing, character development, and more. This camp will ignite your child’s imagination and passion for performing, build their self-esteem, and help them form lasting friendships. They’ll have fun! At camp’s end, the kids will perform Really Rosie for family members and friends. Kids of all levels of experience, ages 8 through 13, are welcome to join.</p>
