With the start of fall just around the corner, this weekend is the perfect time to pack in a few last-minute festivals. We’ve selected three of the best fests, plus a couple of surprise family-friendly happenings to ensure that your summer ends on a high note. Enjoy!

Saturday, September 13

Meet the Artist Saturday: The Funny Bones Mime Trio
David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center

The Funny Bones Mime Trio will present their show, “The History of Modern Mime,” at Lincoln Center this Saturday. Gregg Goldston, Haruka Moriyama, and Joseph Herschel will reenact the history of miming—from its creation in Italy to its present form in America—without the use of speech! All ages will be entranced by this celebration of the art of miming. Free.

NYC Honey Fest
Rockaway Beach 97, Queens
11am-Sunset
Buzz over to the Rockaway Boardwalk this Sunday for the NYC Honey Fest! This year, this bee-utiful festival will feature honey tastings from local hives such as Andrew’s Honey, BoroughBees, Brooklyn Grange, Johnston Honeybee Farm and others. Plus, stick around for live music, food, film screenings and bee-themed arts & crafts for children. Free.

Sunday, September 14

Family Fun Day For A Cure
The Mercedes Club
11am-3pm
This Sunday, Moms In Training will host Family Fun Day For A Cure at the Mercedes Club to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. During this day-long event sponsored by The Lifetime Channel, families with kids of all ages can enjoy face painting, arts & crafts, food, fitness activities, giveaways, and more. There will also be live musical performances from favorite NYC kid-programs such as Kidville, appleseeds, Applause, and others. Tickets are $30 before the day of the event or $35 at the door (for a family of 5).

Annual Badass Brooklyn Fall Festival
President Street between 3rd Avenue & Nevins Street, Brooklyn
11am-5pm
Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue invites families and their dogs to their Annual Badass Brooklyn Fall Festival. Activities include a pitbull kissing booth, crafts for kids with Green Mountain Energy, a dog agility course with Brooklyn Dog Academy, trainer Q&A sessions, canine caricatures, food for mutts (and their owners), and much more. All proceeds will go to the Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue. This event will take place rain or shine. Free.

92Y Street Fest
Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street
12pm-5pm
It’s time for an annual classic! This year, the 92Y Street Fest is back and better than ever. Mount Sinai Health System will be sponsoring the fest’s Wellness Way, a block dedicated to offering community health services, and American Girl will host KidCentral Ave., a block featuring performances and activities for children of all ages. Also, don’t forget about the sports clinics, games, music, and raffles. Free.

Adventuring Portal

<p><a name="m_-1473885667065203258__Hlk72147528"></a>Adventuring Portal runs Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) games for kids.   We have created a safe online space for tweens and teens to learn and play D&D.</p> <p>Our D&D Summer Camp session are a one-week experience.  Monday – Friday.  Each day will be 3 hours of gaming (with 2 breaks build in).  15 total gaming hours for $180.  If you have played with us before, you are entitled to 10% off.   </p> <p>Need your kids, nieces or nephews, grand kids or neighbor’s kids to be occupied for a bit so you can get work done & take care of your to-do list? Maybe your tween or teen is still a bit isolated and craves connection with their peers? Whether your teen/tween has played D&D before or is brand-new to the experience, this safe space brings players together to have fun and solve problems as a team in ways few other online opportunities do.</p> <p>All our games focus on experiential learning.   Our players leave knowing all the basic game play as well as experiencing: teamwork, bravery, compassion, generosity, negotiation, improvisation, gamer etiquette, strategy, critical thinking, problem solving, cartography and probability - all through online D&D adventuring!</p> <p>We are an inclusive organization and welcome gamers who are LGBTQIA+ and those on any spectrum. </p> <p>All girls’ groups available. </p> <p>I am a parent, a certified elementary school and middle school math teacher and last summer in the midst of the mess started Adventuring Portal, an online Dungeons & Dragons business for kids. There are so many benefits to playing D&D and I hope you will consider us as a great way for your child to safely socialize, grow as people and have a great time.</p>
