Celebrate Civil Rights Weekend with a scavenger hunt at the New York Historical Society from Jan. 17 through Jan. 19.

Learn about the fearless people who marched for equal voting rights by enjoying a scavenger hunt to match faces to the names of heroes from the Civil Rights Movement, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the special exhibition Freedom Journey 1965: Photographs of the Selma to Montgomery March by Stephen Somerstein. For children ages 8 and up.

Activities are related to the lyrics, in order to familiarize the children with the words and their meanings. Some of the songs encourage the children to dance. Nilda uses puppets, musical instruments, and props to teach children basic vocabulary through action and interaction, rather than through translation.</div> <div style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; background-color: #ffffff;"><br />The classes are streamed on Zoom's webinar platform.
