A Future Rockette—Our Littlest Blogger—Visits Radio City For The Christmas Spectacular

cs_logo_redk_chase-2The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is filled with holiday magic and charm sure to bring out the holiday spirit in everyone. The radiant Rockettes performed umber after number of dazzling dancing and superb singing in the most exquisite costumes! Plus, there was a backdrop of stunning scenery matched with technology for a transporting experience; super special effects like fireworks and real snow; and an extra special host, Santa Claus! Kids of all ages, from 1-101, were mesmerized from start to finish!

My eyes starting glowing as the Rockettes took the stage—they are even more riveting and divine in person! The orchestra started playing a medley of everyone’s favorite Christmas songs and the audience was immersed into a holiday wonderland. The Rockettes were outfitted as reindeer complete with light-up antlers. I never saw reindeer do precision kick lines—it was extraordinary! It was as bright as merry as who they pulled in for the number—Santa himself! The Rockette reindeers “pulled” his sleigh to “Jingle Bells” and took us on a 3D, virtual sleigh ride over New York City at Christmas. It was like nothing I have ever seen!

There were more-show-stopping numbers to celebrate the season and a spin on the “Nutcracker” was next. There was a mini Nutcracker suite complete with dancing toys, dollies and teddy bears, oh my! I was as happy as the sugar plum fairy! The precision dancing in the legendary “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” that followed was phenomenal. I loved the toy soldiers’ march in feathered hats and my sister loved their trust fall and rosy cheeks! I see why it’s been delighting audiences since 1933.

After that the audience was invited on a big, red, tour bus ride across Manhattan to see the sights of New York at Christmas with the Rockettes. We saw the bright lights in the big city and “toured” through Central Park and even spotted ice skaters whirling and twirling! It was fire on ice! But the best part was that the Rockettes boarded the bus in wondrous, white winter coats and as they departed from the bus they revealed shimmering and shining green and red sequin costumes that sparkled during their circular kick lines and dynamic dance number. The Rockettes really razzled and dazzled us all with this one!

A Santa story of believing in holiday magic came next and warmed the hearts of each and every one of us. To spread the magic, Santa summoned all of his helpers to spread the holiday cheer. At first I counted one, and then two, and then four, and eight, then 10 Santas—but soon there were so many I couldn’t count fast enough. There was a giant Santa-go-round overflowing with Santa and all of his countless helpers to the tune of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town!” Santa took us on an enchanted journey to the North Pole and back, teaching the valuable lesson to always believe.

After a “White Christmas” and a “Living Nativity Scene” (complete with real camels and sheep!), we all sang “Joy to the World” for the grand finale. It was truly joyful. When the show was over, everyone agreed it was the best show we have even seen! This future Rockette was kicking and singing and dancing the whole way home! It’s our favorite holiday tradition!

This future Rockette knows you will want to experience the timeless tradition of the Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes, too.
