The Carnegie Royal Conservatory Achievement Program provides a national standard of success in music study that is designed to inspire excellence through individual assessments while supporting teachers with the necessary high-quality resources to help students succeed.

The program awards certificates based on practical assessments that include technical tests like ear training, sight-reading, and performance of repertoire pieces, which measure students’ basic understanding of their instruments and their grasp on the fundamentals of music. Assessment levels, including Preparatory A and B and Levels 1 through 10, have increasingly demanding standards that students must meet.

Honorees from NYC schools included:

• Mia Curwin, 8, of Lycée Français de New York; Preparatory A piano

• Phoebe Davis, 10, of The Spence School; Preparatory B piano

• Banti Gheneti, 16, of United Nations International School; Level 4 guitar

• Sarah Yoon, 12, of Hunter College High School; Level 8 piano

A total of 40 students throughout Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York were awarded  Certificates of Excellence this year.
