Kings County Fair at Aviator Sports & Events Center
Check out the 7th annual Kings County Fair in Brooklyn through the end of May! There's fun for the whole family, including kiddie rides for the young ones, a ferris wheel and roller coaster for the older kids, and snacks for all! The special act this year is The Tiger Encounter, a fantastic touring educational tiger show with the youngest female tiger trainer in the country. (Starts Thursday) -
Teen Night: Teens Take the Met
Teens ages 13 through 18 can stop by the Met Museum this Friday evening for a night of art, performances, music, craft-making, and more! This free event will feature a dance party with Abby the DJ, a modern dance workshop with Mark Morris Dance Group, a Shakespeare rap battle with TITAN Theatre Company, and poetry and songwriting workshops. Disney's "Fantasia" Live in Concert at Lincoln Center
Love Disney films and live classical music? Then head to Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall this weekend to see the New York Philharmonic Orchestra perform music from Disney’s “Fantasia” and “Fantasia 2000.” Scenes from both movies will be displayed above the orchestra, creating a live concert experience unlike any other. Families with children ages 4 and up will enjoy the music of Beethoven, Stravinsky, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, and others. (Friday-Saturday) -
10th Annual Dance Parade and Festival
Boogie on down and celebrate the rich tradition of dance! The 10th Annual Dance Parade shakes, twists and slides through NYC streets as parade participants showcase traditional forms of dance as well as modern and contemporary moves. Starting at East 21st Street and Broadway, the parade will go down University Place to 8th Street, where a turn east will bring it to its final destination, Tompkins Square Park, for the Dance Festival. Join the myriad of dance groups and companies that will dance in the parade, or come watch and cheer from the sidelines. (Saturday) -
Spring Family Day at Carnegie Hall
Carnegie Hall will host its Spring Family Day this Saturday! During this fun-filled afternoon, kids can participate in songwriting workshops, create and play their own instruments, listen to musical stories, explore a digital musical playground, and more. There will also be performances by Sonia De Los Santos, Elena Moon Park, and The Itty Biddies! (Saturday) -
Fleece Festival at the Prospect Park Zoo
As you put away your wool coat and sweater, head to Prospect Park to see a master sheep shearer trim up the sheep as they prepare for the hot summer months. There will be games, music and wool working demonstrations. Note: Due to expected rainy weather, sheep shearing will not be happening on Saturday, May 21st. It is still on for Sunday, May 22nd. Free with zoo admission. (Saturday-Sunday) -
Super Sabado: Block Party! At El Museo Del Barrio
Come by El Museo del Barrio for an old-fashioned block party. There will be a whole host of activities that all ages will love, from salsa dance lessons to a special exhibit called “The Illusive Eye,” to an art workshop dedicated to beautifying our streets with special landmarks. All ages are welcome at this free event. (Saturday) -
Hudson River Park Games at Pier 26
Saturday, May 21, amateur athletes (even and their four-legged friends) will compete in dodgeball, kayaking, flag football and beach volleyball during the Pentathalon; and take on the epic Fear the Pier obstacle course on Pier 26. New York on Location: Street Fair and Celebration
Go behind the scenes of the motion picture industry with the Museum of the Moving Image, Theatrical Teamsters Local 817, and Kaufman Astoria Studios during New York On Location. This day-long street fair will show visitors how movie magic is created and grant access to star dressing rooms, special effects trucks, hair & makeup trailers, and more. Plus, stunt performers will demonstrate street fighting and other tricks of the trade! Food will be available for purchase from movie catering trucks. (Sunday) -
CMA Kids Fair 2016 & Come Make Art Family Day
Head over to Charlton Street to take in the Children's Museum of the Arts' first annual Kids Fair! Families and kids of all ages can browse offerings from local artisanal vendors and get creative with art activities facilitated by Museum educators–including a 3D sculpture project, collaborative 2D art projects, creative play with Linda White, and more!
