Ringing In Spring With Elle Belle

Why is it still cold and rainy? After a birthday blizzard and a long winter, it’s May and I don’t want to wear a big coat and sweaters and tights anymore. I am ready to run free outside in a summer dress, wearing only my legs and my toes. I dream of feeling grass in between my toes, tickling me as I smell the pretty flowers. And hearing birdies saying “tweet, tweet, happy spring!” as I chase my dog around the park under the warm sunshine. Is this a dream? No, it’s spring. But spring, where are you?

I need a spring in my step! Here’s what I cannot wait for this spring:

1. No more being bundled up to go outside!
Bye, bye big coat, layering sweater, hat, mittens, scarf and stroller liner (and taking forever to get it all on and then off). I can just wear my beautiful skin and feel the sun kissing it.
2. I can play at the park and playground and not be frozen
I want to play in Central Park -- my favorite park – and visit the zoo, see dogs roaming around, and climb—I mean admire—the Alice in Wonderland statue.
3. It’s lighter later so I can stay up until dark, right?
4. Daddy will take me out to the ballgame!
It will be so pleasant that we will need sunglasses and I will get a refreshing ice cream. And maybe some peanuts and cracker jacks? Yum!
5. Spring is in bloom!
I love seeing all the pretty flowers around the neighborhood. It makes everything so colorful and everyone so happy!
6. Nothing says spring like dining alfresco (that’s fancy for eating outside)
I love sidewalk dining and picnics since we can enjoy the fresh air, bring puppy and mommy loves that I’m so distracted that I eat really well.
7. Spring also means that Mommy always has our gazillion bubble toys in the stroller
There’s nothing like popping bubbles in the spring sunshine. Pop!
8. Classes and activities move outside in the spring, too
We can sing under a tree or play sports in real grass. I become one with nature and almost forget I am a city kid.
9. Did I say new shoes?
I adore shoes just like Cinderella. She is right that one shoe can change your life! And I love getting new spring shoes and sandals to show off my cute feet and toes.
10. Taking my dog with us to eat and play is another spring favorite
He loves the spring sunshine more than I do! I love walking him everywhere and celebrating spring together!
