You may have read that the most popular baby names of 2015 are Charlotte and Oliver, according to BabyNames.com. Baby Center has also released popular trends in baby names for 2015. As it turns out many parents are turning to social media—Instagram, in particular, to help them name their newborns.
Some popular children’s names are inspired by the filters Lux, Juno, Reyes, Ludwig, Amaro, Valencia, and Willow, according to Baby Center. They found that these names have increased in popularity. For example, the name Lux is up 75 percent on their list of baby names for boys (and has slightly increased for girls); Ludwig increased 42 percent; and Amaro increased 26 percent.
For girls, Juno increased in popularity by 30 percent; Valencia increased 26 percent; and Willow increased 13 percent.
Baby Center notes that older filters such as Sierra, Walden, and Lark were not as popular this year, and some names have not appeared on their databases yet.
Other notable trends in baby names include royalty themes, like Royalty, Duchess, and Reign. Names from popular teen novels such as Hazel from John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars and Eleanor from Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor & Park are up, too.
