Open Houses & Trial Classes Fall 2010


During the month of September, many kids’ classes venues host open houses and offer trial classes and other special offers in order to allow families to try out different classes and see which is right for them. We’ll be adding to the list as we hear about more special offers, so check back! (And if you’re a venue and are hosting an open house or offering trial classes, let us know and we’ll be glad to add you to the list.)

School of the Arts offers a wide variety of art, dance and music classes
for kids from preschool through teen. Faculty members are professionals
in their fields, and facilities include state-of-the-art equipment and
studios. Families are invited to stop by one of the following Open

Kids can try out classes like Musical Playdate, Kindermusik and more.

Home of Rock-n-Roll Babies, Broadway Babies and Superstars
Applause

Ballet Academy East
BAE is offering free trial classes in both modern
dance for ages 3-5 and Zumba for adults during the week of September

Carousel of Languages
The Carousel of Languages is hosting an Opening
Party on Monday, September 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. They also offer
trial classes for new families—call 212-501-8524 to schedule.

Chelsea Piers
Chelsea Piers BlueStreak Sports Training Center is
offering a FREE TRIAL session in their 2-hour hockey, soccer and
basketball programs or a 1.5 hr trial session in their running and
acceleration program. Every trial session begins with a 15 minute
dynamic warm-up followed by sport-specific speed work on the high-speed
treadmills, then athletes work on agility training and finish off the 2
hour programs with 40 minutes of individualized skill development. There
is a strict 5-to-1 athlete-to-coach ratio to ensure individualized

CP Building Blocks at Chelsea Piers
Wednesday, September 8
6:00pm – 7:00pm
The
Field House at Chelsea Piers is proud to announce the launch of CP
Building Blocks, an enrichment program for children with developmental
needs from ages 18 months to 5 years. Classes target language
development, cognition, motor development and socialization. Classes are
one hour long with 40 minutes devoted to a new language concept and
practicing its use through gross and fine motor activities, story time,
music, cooking and more. During the last 20 minutes, children
participate in a sports class–soccer, baseball, gymnastics–with the
Special Education teacher who has already built a relationship with the
child. The CP Building Blocks early intervention program allows children
to start at 18 months, giving parents tools, a community and a social

Together for a FREE Open House at Go Fish! Stop by and learn more about
their early childhood music education programs. For children ages 0-4

Gymtime Rhythm & Glues
FREE TINY TOTS TRIAL CLASS:
Specifically designed with the younger child in mind, Tiny Tots (for ages 7-18 months) welcomes moms, dads and caregivers to join the experience of early motor exploration and social skill development. Tiny Tots will also introduce you and your child to basic sign language. Families can join them this fall in their brand new facility! Families who choose to register will be entitled to unlimited complimentary open gym.

Families can try the Thursday Mommy and
Me class for children 18 months-3.5 years for free on the first day of

Loop
of the Loom will hold Open Houses on Friday, September 10 from noon-6pm
and Saturday, September 11 from noon-6pm. Children 7-14 years old can
take a free 20 minute trial class. Enroll on the day of the Open House

The School at Steps
The School at Steps is offering trial classes
during the month of September for their Young Dancers (ages 2-6) and
Technique Program (ages 6-18). The trial class fee is $35.00. If the

Scribble Press
Scribble Press will be holding an open house for
parents and teachers to learn about their classes on Wednesday, Sept. 15
from 4-6 p.m. at the store, 1624 1st Avenue. Free trial classes are
available with advance reservation, subject to availability, for new
students in the first week of any session.

Super Soccer Stars
Families can learn all about the programs offered at Super Soccer Stars at their 10 Year Anniversary Blowout Bash on October 16 from 2-5 p.m. Plus, enjoy food, beverages, face painting, arts and crafts and soccer activities! Dalton Physical Education Center, 200 E 87th Street.
