What’s edgier than a doll that dares to scare? This
Halloween, get into the spooky spirit with Madame
Alexander dolls for girls who prefer ghosts and goblins to princesses and
ponies. —
Ideally for little “ghouls” ages 14 and up, these dolls are
part of a legendary
collection that began in 1923. Known for making beautifully handcrafted
pieces, the Alexander Doll Company continues to inspire so many decades later
with these Halloween-themed dolls.
Franken
Wendy ($84.95), a little lady with pale green skin and black stitch marks, looks
menacing as anything in a black frock, red socks and patent leather boots. A
battered black top hat completes the chilling effect, with style to boot.
Trick
or Treats ($99.95) is another Wendy doll with curly taffy tan pigtails, a polka
dot bow and freckles. She’s adorned with emerald green ribbon, pumpkin appliqués
and an orange tulle petticoat. Candy apples help accessorize her look.
On a personal note, I considered myself the luckiest lass to
have the Little Women collection of Madame Alexander dolls when I was growing
up. Had I known these daring dolls were part of the Alexander empire, my
holiday wish lists would have grown!
