After four successful years in Washington, DC, Georgetown Cupcake has arrived in Manhattan.
“Finding the perfect location was a long process,” co-owner Katherine Kallinis says, “but we are thrilled to be opening in SoHo. It has the same charming neighborhood feel that we looked for in our Georgetown and Bethesda locations.”
After four successful years in Washington, DC, Georgetown Cupcake has arrived in Manhattan. Founders, co-owners, and sisters Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne opened their new SoHo location on Feb. 11, offering up the signature cupcakes that have made them famous. Eighteen flavors are offered every day, and the assortment changes daily.
The sisters say they are excited to open a store in New York. “It’s always been a dream of ours to bring our cupcakes here,” LaMontagne says, noting that the Soho location provides a great mix of people and a “different kind of energy than D.C.”
The new location is 3,000 square feet, with space for private parties and cupcake-decorating lessons. Kallinis and LaMontagne say they hope to do a lot of classes with kids around the holidays. They encourage parents to look at their website to learn more about class offerings, and note that parents are always welcome to attend classes, too.
Georgetown Cupcake has built a loyal following over the past four years, and Kallinis and LaMontagne say a major goal is to show their appreciation to their customers. Each day they promote a secret not-on-the-menu flavor on their Facebook and Twitter pages. The first 100 customers who enter the store and request the secret flavor by name get one for free. For those who don’t get the free treat, Kallinis says her favorite flavor is Salted Caramel, and LaMontagne says she likes Chocolate Hazelnut best.
