Once the blizzard clears, take advantage of one of the many great events happening throughout the city this week–from Sesame Street to show tunes, with a winter carnival and Korean-themed fun in between. Stay safe and warm!

Beginning Tuesday, January 27

Sesame Street Presents: The Body Exhibit
Liberty Science Center
9am-4pm
Learn all about your body with Elmo, Big Bird, Grover, and the rest of the Sesame Street cast in the new Body Exhibit at Liberty Science Center! Divided into three sections, Your Outsides, Your Insides, and Staying Healthy, this interactive exhibit features 17 activities including sign language games, Oscar’s Sneeze Machine, Baby Bear’s Mini Mart, a shadow puppet wall, and much more. Plus, click here to check out when your family can meet Elmo live. Recommended for ages 2 through 8. Free with Center admission. Runs through Sunday, May 3.

Winter Carnival
Bryant Park

Celebrate winter during Bryant Park’s First Annual Winter Carnival. All ages are invited to participate in an eclectic mix of outdoor seasonal activities including ice golf, juggling workshops, a make-your-own paper snowflake craft, curling lessons, a hockey shootout, and more. Be sure to attend the Kids Silent Disco on Saturday afternoon, an outdoor dance party where kids will be provided with headphones and boogie down to kid-friendly DJ music. This event is free.

Saturday, January 31

Ben Rudnick and Friends
Symphony Space

Join Symphony Space this Saturday for a Ben Rudnick and Friends concert. The award-winning band’s mix of acoustic, country, rock, and bluegrass tunes will have all ages tuning in and rockin’ out during this hour-long show. Concert-goers are sure to hear favorites such as “I Got A New Friend” and “A Frog Named Sam.” Tickets are $21 for adults and $14 for children.

Family Day: Korean New Year 2015
The Korea Society

Ring in the Korean New Year at The Korea Society this Saturday! Families with children of all ages are welcome to join in Korean calligraphy and brush painting workshops, arts & crafts sessions, traditional folktale storytelling, games, and more. This event is part of CelebrASIA NYC. Tickets are $15 for individuals or $30 for a family of 3 to 5 members.

Broadway Playhouse: Meredith Willson
Merkin Concert Hall

Introduce your kids to the music of Broadway lyricist and composer Meredith Willson this Sunday at Merkin Concert Hall. Primarily known for his Broadway hit musical “The Music Man,” whose cast album won the first ever Grammy for the then- new category, Willson also wrote the score for another Broadway hit, “The Unsinkable Molly Brown.” In his early days in Hollywood, Willson composed the film score for Charlie Chaplin’s “The Great Dictator,: for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. During this concert, the musical genius of Willson will shine.
