Cool Event: Target Pillowfort Experience

Pillow_fort_entranceIn a move that will delight design-savvy parents, Target just launched Pillowfort, a kids home décor line that takes kids’ room design outside the gender-specific. Besides being socially relevant, the Pillowfort line will also be of great help to parents who want to encourage their kids’ imaginative thinking without the matchy-matchy décor it usually entails. And to celebrate, they’re showcasing the new pieces to the public this weekend! Grab your kiddos and come to Highline Stages on Saturday and Sunday (March 5 and 6) and take a look for yourself!

Pillowfort is a collection of 1,200 pieces of furniture, bedding, and more (including everything from teepees to whimsical wall art and decorative pillows) that caters to any decor dream a kid might conjure. The event this weekend is set up to showcase 12 different themes, including “Tropical Treehouse,” “Stellar Station,” “Ocean Oasis,” and many more. With so many choices, you and your kiddos will enjoy playing mix and match décor games with this fun, functional, and affordable collection. The immersive event has tons of activities for the pint-sized creatives, like arts-and-crafts stations as well as mini corn dogs and chocolate milk on site.

camping_overallParents can pick furniture and décor accents that fit seamlessly into their homes, with the little ones’ opinion and flair for the whimsical in mind because the line was designed based on research on kids’ preferences. Target’s line was created with input from parents and, most importantly, kids, resulting in fun-sized colors and patterns kids will approve of, with the incredible style, quality and value that parents can appreciate. Julie Guggemos, part of the Product Design and Development teams, describes the collection as “cute enough for a 3-year-old and cool enough for a 10-year-old.”

So tuck that Pinterest board away, grab your tiny tastemakers, and head to Highline Stages for home décor shopping, celeb spotting–celeb mamas Camila Alves, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Katie Holmes were reportedly seen browsing at the launch–and a day full of inspired and kids-friendly activities.

The Target Pillowfort Experience is free and open to the public on March 4-7, from 10am-6pm, at Highline Stages (441 West 14th Street).

Middle_wallThe Pillowfort collection is available in Target stores and online, with furniture arriving this summer. Prices range from $4.99-59.99 for bedding and décor, and $39.99-599.99 for furniture. To learn more, visit target.com!
