Christy’s Gymnastics, a Whitestone-based full-service gymnastics facility, now offers an Elite Acrobatics class for cheerleaders and competitive dancers who want to learn and build on their acrobatic skills. The gym also offers early childhood fitness programs and non-competitive and competitive gymnastics programs.

In the past, Christy’s Gymnastics, a full-service gymnastics facility, offered private classes for cheerleaders and dancers. But because competitive dancers want to add acrobatics to their dance arsenal, Christy’s now offers a combined Elite Acrobatics class for cheerleaders who are already on a team and want to build on skills and competitive dancers who want to learn the techniques.
The one and a half hour class, which is held Wednesday evenings through mid-December, includes stretching at the beginning of the class and conditioning at the end. The acrobatic techniques that are covered in class are up to the students. “The kids tell the instructors what they want to learn,” owner Christine Phillips says.
Christy’s Gymnastics also offers programs for children of all ages. The early childhood fitness and development programs include Wee Tumble for ages 18 months to 3 years; Junior Gym for ages 3½-5 years; and Creative Gym, an arts and crafts program that compliments Wee Tumble and Junior Gym. The recreational gymnastics programs include gym time for ages 5½ and older, advanced gymnastics for ages 9 and older, and high school gymnastics, as well as Cheer Gym; Rising Stars, a non-competitive program for girls ages 6-9; and a competitive gymnastics program.
Registration for the fall semester is on going through the end of October.
