Broadway Shows Offering 2-for-1 Tickets

This year, 26 Broadway shows are available for two-for-one tickets, including the following: Here are a few of the highlights:

  • Stranger Things: The First Shadow is a Broadway prequel that takes you back to 1959 Hawkins, and fills in the backstory behind the mystery with big effects and a lot of suspense.
  • The Great Gatsby brings F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic to life with lively music, big dance numbers, and all the glamour, heartbreak, and excess of the Jazz Age.
  • The Lion King is a must-see (or see again and again!) for families; this Disney musical continues to captivate audiences with its heartwarming story.
  • The Book of Mormon is an irreverent musical by the creators of South Park, best for older teens and adults.
  • Wicked is a big family favorite and tells the untold story of the witches of Oz and is full of magic, music, and life lessons.

Others include Hamilton, Maybe Happy Ending, MJ The Musical, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Oedipus, Oh, Mary!, Operation Mincemeat, The Outsiders, Ragtime, and more.

How to Get Your  2-for-1 Tickets

You can get 2-for-1 tickets online by visiting NYC Tourism and using the code NYCBW250. You can also use NYCBW250 to upgrade to better seat locations at a discounted rate. Just keep in mind, that there are only a limited number of discounted tickets available for each show, so if there’s a performance you really want to see, book early. The deal is good for shows from Jan 20-Feb 12, and tickets are on sale now.

The 2-for-1 deal is only available for a little over two weeks, so the sooner you plan ahead, the better. This is especially a good idea if there is a show that you or your kids have wanted to see for a while.

Tips for Seeing Broadway Shows with Kids

Before you head out with your kids to see a Broadway show, here are a few tips:

  1. Check age ratings. Some Broadway shows are better for older kids or teens. For example, The Book of Mormon is a real funny show, but it’s definitely for mature audiences, while The Lion King and Wicked are perfect for younger kids.
  2. Think about the length of the show. Performances usually run for 2-3 hours, so consider if your child has the attention span and isn’t going past their bedtime. Tired kids may not going to enjoy the show, let alone behave well. Shows like Aladdin or The Lion King are great for younger kids, with their familiar songs and fun dialogue that keep them engaged from start to finish. Matinees are a good idea for the very young.
  3. Get there early. Broadway theatres can get very crowded and overstimulating, so it’s a good idea to get there early. It will help you get through security without feeling rushed, find your seats, and make a bathroom trip before the show starts.
