New York Family Camp Fairs
New York Family's big Camp Fairs are happening this weekend, on Saturday, January 24 on the UES and Sunday, January 25 on the UWS. In a relaxed, family-friendly setting, the camp fairs allow parents and children to to meet many camp directors in person and discover a great variety of day camps (in and out of the city) and sleepaway camps. Attendance is free, but it's best to preregister by clicking above to secure your spot. (Saturday-Sunday) -
Pixelated: Sum of its Pieces at the Children's Museum of the Arts
The newest exhibit at CMA focuses on the intersection of art and technology. What happens when artists break down their artwork into pieces just as visual technology is broken down into pixels? “Pixelated: Sum of its Pieces” explores what art looks like when viewed at different angles and distances. Visitors are encouraged to study the works carefully. (Opens Thursday) -
Lionboy at the New Victory Theater
Head over to the New Victory Theater to catch the Olivier Award-winning British theater company Complicite’s adaptation of “Lionboy,” the dystopian tale of a young boy who sets out to save his family. Charming and witty, “Lionboy” will captivate imaginations with a floating circus, a hot air balloon, and a pride of performing lions. Inventgenuity Festival at the Brooklyn Beam Center
Come to the Beam Center for its annual Inventgenuity Festival, a celebration of technology and imagination for kids in 2nd grade and up. This year’s theme is “Balance,” and in addition to faculty-led workshops, participants will collaborate to build a 20-foot tall spinning sculpture. (Saturday-Sunday) -
Winter Jam in Central Park
Enjoy a free afternoon of winter sports activities this Saturday in Central Park! Winter Jam activities include snowshoeing, sledding, the Lake Placid Snow Field, kicksledding, ski and snowboarding workshops for beginners, and more. Boo! The Spooktacular Winter Ball at the Queens Museum
It may not be October, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some ghoulish fun! Dig up last year’s Halloween costume and come out to the Queens Museum for a spooky circus-themed party. In addition to the cavalcade, there will be a heart-stopping scavenger hunt, hippodrome bingo and a big-top bar for adults as well as cotton candy for kids. (Saturday) -
