Wee Gallery Art Cards Promote Brain & Vision Development In Infants

woodlands-cards-tnStudies show that infants will show a significantly greater response to proper face patterns than any scrambled versions of the same patterns and suggest that visual discrimination is being made at this early stage of development. If you take a look at the success of the Wee Gallery Art Cards, you won’t be surprised that they were created based on these discoveries.

Dave and Surya Pinto created Wee Gallery when their son was born and they began reading and absorbing everything they could find about parenting and newborns. “We learned that newborns can only see 12-15 inches away and they are most taken with their parent’s faces and black and white geometric figures… Experimenting with the latter idea, Wee Gallery was born,” Dave says.

Dave says that he and his wife began to notice what their son was staring at. The heating grates, tiles on the roof, and his parent’s faces. As a baby develops, they latch on to more and more visually and the visuals on the Art Cards do the perfect job of grabbing a baby’s attention. “By seeing their newborn connect with something else,” Dave says. “It helps the parent to understand where the baby is at developmentally.”

As Dave and Surya’s son grew, so did his imagination. As his motor skills developed, he would start to grab onto the cards. As he got older he would start to name the animals on the cards and later he would create his own stories to go along with the images.

In 2007, The Toy Man did a study across multiple daycare centers over a five day period. The studies found that infants appeared interested in the cards and that when the cards were removed, they appeared more restless. “The Toy Man article also mentions various studies that support the idea of black and white geometric patterns aiding visual acuity and brain development,” Dave says.

The Wee Gallery Art Cards turn any crib, playpen, or playmat into a baby’s own personal art gallery. The Jungle Art Cards have consistently been a best-seller throughout the years with the lion being the most popular animal. Wee Gallery will soon be introducing new Wee Gallery Stroller Cards for engaging playtime on the go.
