United Airlines gave children with serious illnesses the opportunity to fly to the North Pole.
On December 9, children who have been staying at the University Hospital and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, and their parents, were invited by United Airlines to visit the North Pole, set up at Newark Liberty International Airport. These children are either suffering from an illness or an in recovery.
The children and their parents boarded a fantasy flight and were greeted by Santa Claus, Minions, Batman, and Mickey Mouse when they reached the North Pole. The event was made possible by United Airlines employee volunteers at Newark Liberty International Airport.
“My son Santino has leukemia, and this is a wonderful, wonderful situation they’ve presented for children,” Arthur Anastasia told CBS New York News.
Anastasia said that his son spent last Christmas in the hospital but is doing much better now.
“My Christmas wish is to be good and I want to be happy forever,” a little boy told CBS New York News while on the flight.
