Practically Ridiculous

If your kids have outgrown The Wiggles but aren’t quite
ready for Lady Gaga yet, we’ve found the perfect music group for you. —

The Jimmies, who have been climbing to the top of the
“kindie” rock scene over the past few years, will release their second full-length family
album, Practically Ridiculous, later
this month.

Spanning the likes of dance to hip-hop to country, Practically Ridiculous features a
wide range of rhythmic stylings that will have kids rocking out and may even have
moms bobbing their heads to a song or two. Lead Singer Ashley Albert lends
strong vocals and a quirky sense of humor that manifests in the lyrics she
writes, which cover everything from her love of hamsters to the universal
experience of losing your baby teeth (adore!). Many of the Jimmies’ tunes also have a
message, like “Laugh in Any Language,” which promotes international
understanding via chuckling, and “Everyday’s a Holiday,” which finds a reason
to celebrate the ordinary. Other songs are just simply fun. Hip-hop inspired
“Minivan Hotrod” may encourage your youngster to bust a move, while “Kids Wanna
Rock” offers an anthem for young air guitarists to jam to.

On Saturday, September 17, the Jimmies will be holding a
concert
and party at the National Underground (fun starts at noon!) to celebrate the release of Practically Ridiculous. In addition to a
live performance, there will be an attempt to set the record for the world’s
longest macaroni necklace, a giant piñata to swing at, a hamster petting zoo and a chance
for everyone attending to be in a new Jimmies music video.

To help you partake in the fun, we are giving away a family
four-pack to the concert and five Practically
Ridiculous
CDs. To enter, please leave a comment on our Facebook Page and then write to us at familygiveaways@manhattanmedia.com with the subject line “The Jimmies”. Deadline to enter is Monday, September 12.
