Pressed juices are popular with little ones, too.

“Juicing” has been a popular healthy eating trend, especially in New York City. Men and women of all ages are indulging in this liquid diet, and over at Juice Press, one of NYC’s many juice purveyors, stores are packed daily with customers buying both cold-press juices and organic raw food. Among the many New Yorkers trying juice cleanses are urban moms, who find juicing a convenient entry point into a healthier diet.

“People want to cleanse, most of the time because they want to reset and rid themselves of toxins,” says Alex Jay, certified holistic health coach and product specialist and nutritional expert at Juice Press. “Most commonly, people want to come in after they find themselves stressed, or they know they have been eating a lot of processed junk. In addition, it’s a lot of peoples’ entry to a more healthy lifestyle, because they are able to try a variety of great juices that they can add into their daily routine. Mothers have crazy schedules and can forget to eat, or do not have time. Adding a smoothie or a green juice is a good way to get your nutrients on the go.”

Juice Press presents customers with a large variety of organic cold-press juices as well as smoothies and raw food. Their juices come in fresh every morning, and moms frequently arrive at the store early to grab some juices before their days begin. Of their many juices, Jay suggests that “a good, balanced cleanse for moms” could include GLO, Vital Force , Love Me, Fountain of Youth, Doctor Earth ,and Black Label , as “a secret defense for when you have that sweet craving.”

Meredith Verona is a New York City mom who works in real estate and has four children. She frequents the Carnegie Hill Juice Press located on 62nd Street and 3rd Avenue.  “I like to juice cleanse to kick-start me on a path to wellness,” she says. “After 3 days, I feel great, and feel as if I’ve rebooted my system. Also, while cleansing I have all the needed energy to go about my usual routine. I love it because it’s easy and healthy — you know what and where your meals are and don’t have to think about it, especially when I’m running around between work and the kids.”

Many parents have also started getting their children into drinking cold press juices,” Verona says, “My eldest daughter Avery loves the Pineapple juice, and Glo – she is a huge Juice Press fan. In fact, sometimes we’ll stop by Juice Press on our way to school, it’s an incentive to get her out of the house early.”

Juice Press also makes a variety of “shakes” that are also great for kids including chocolate, strawberry, and banana.
