JEI Learning Center has opened a new location in Bayside-Auburndale. The academic enrichment center for queens children provides small classroom learning while preparing students for more traditional school setting.

Small classroom learning has a new meaning since the Bayside-Auburndale location of JEI Learning Center opened in January. JEI takes pride in providing small classroom settings with no more than four students in each class.
The learning center offers math, English, and reading and writing lessons for children in pre-kindergarten through ninth grade. Students take a free diagnostic test that examines their weak areas and the workbooks, which are included in tuition, meet each child’s specific needs.
“Our curriculum is aligned with the national standard,” says Ken Lo, director of JEI Bayside-Auburndale location. “The idea is that as they go through the program, it will prepare them for the SATs.” JEI offers a six-month or one year-plan, and the Bayside-Auburndale branch is offering a special 20 percent discount for new students.
While this learning center may sound like any other academic enrichment center, there are two new interactive learning programs unique to JEI. The Lil’ Genius program for children ages 3 to 5 combines the Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches that stress children learning through exploration and a self-guided curriculum while teachers support them. The preschool alternative program introduces children to a classroom setting, allowing them to adjust to a new environment before going into a traditional school.
