All that back-to-school shopping can really add up financially–and that’s not to mention the environmental impact of buying all-new stuff every year! If you’re looking to change the way you consume this year, check out Little Swappies’ kids clothing, book, and toy exchange coming up on Saturday, September 12.
The swap, which will be held at the Nord Anglia International School in the East Village from 3-5pm, is an 8 for 20: You bring at least 8 like-new items (kids clothing 0-5, books, toys, maternity wear), and you can take home up to 20 items of your choice. All items will be hand-checked to ensure their quality, and the event will be organized like a boutique for easy swapping. All leftover goods will be donated to Little Swappies partner charity, Room to Grow.
You can also bring items with more wear and tear–while they won’t be included in the swap, Little Swappies will also be recycling any textiles (clothes, blankets, towels) that you no longer use.
But this event is more than just a swap! Bring your family for free (with purchase of a $20 ticket) and enjoy music, book readings, soccer, a photo booth, arts and crafts, sample sales, and a raffle to benefit Bowery Babes.
