Coming in from the Cold: Event for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Before winter comes, families with children with special needs can learn how to make and play with toys and games. Lefferts Historic House opens its doors early to create a comfortable, protected, and accepted environment where children with Autism Spectrum disorders can enjoy a day of interactive learning experiences. The fun-filled day includes sensory-based exhibits and activities with certain modifications. Children can make a classic cup and ball toy to take home! Reservations are required.

Stop by West Harlem Piers on December 10th to celebrate the annual holiday tree lighting. There will be live music, dancing, and hot chocolate. Come grab some yummy holiday cookies at the 8th Annual Cookie Walk at St. Nicholas of Myra Orthodox Church. Families will be able to choose from approximately 75 varieties of homemade cookies to fill their boxes. Kids are invited to take pictures with Santa and participate in a special Little Elves workshop (for ages 10 and under) where they can make their own goodies to take home. Plus, don’t forget to check out the Walk’s holiday market, featuring gifts for all. Please note: Admission and kids’ craft are free. Cookies are available for purchase.

Kings Theatre is hosting a Winter Wonderland! Bring the whole family to this holiday open house where you can enjoy a live petting zoo, photos with Santa, holiday coloring, and hot cider. This year, the theater will be organizing a canned food drive to benefit CAMBA. Needed items include canned tuna, salmon, and chicken, pasta, cereal, dried milk, beans, and tinned vegetables and fruit.
