Children can eat their veggies and draw them, too, while learning about a beloved child scribe at the Morgan Museum’s special-art-meets-science-meets-healthy-snack-program on Nov. 3.

Naturalist Beatrix Potter, author of the Peter Rabbit stories, was an illustrator with a keen eye for nature’s most minute details. The museum is currently hosting an exhibit of 20 of her picture letters, including the first Peter Rabbit letter containing her original ideas for early commercial designs, and her famous characters Squirrel Nutkin, Jeremy Fisher, and Pig Robinson.

To tie in with the exhibit, Ellen Gunning, president of the Guild for Natural Science illustrators is hosting an exciting science, art, and snack workshop for children 6 to 12 years old. They’ll get the lowdown on beloved Bea, view the exhibit, observe and draw their fruits and veggies, and then literally chow down on the fruits of their labors as a tasty finale.
