On Saturday, April 16, 2011, the YMCA of Greater New York invites families across the five boroughs and the tri-state region to come to the Y for a play date and commit to being active every day. It’s all part of YMCA’s Healthy Kids DayTM, the nation’s largest health day for families.
At a time when one in three children in the U.S. are overweight or obese (according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), developing healthier habits that include increased physical activity is more important than ever. YMCA Healthy Kids Day is filled with fun, engaging, and creative activities that foster healthy living, and is a part of the YMCA’s larger efforts to help more kids and families become physically active.
The free event will be held from 10AM to 3PM at all YMCA branches across the city and most Ys in the Tri-State region, with Staten Island branches hosting Healthy Kids Day activities from 10AM to 4PM. Radio Disney will be broadcasting via live remote at the Park Slope Armory branch with La Mega broadcasting from the Bronx YMCA; a KISS-FM street team will visit the Harlem YMCA and a WBLS street team is scheduled to make an appearance at the Flatbush YMCA. The event is free and open to the public. For more information visit www.ymcanyc.org.
