If your weekend holiday hoopla doesn’t
include a packed-to-the-brimmed SUV—here’s a few bright city stars to add to
the three-day (or four, if you’re lucky) fun. —
Governor’s Island is like a mini-vacation in and of itself (Picnic Point! bicycles! mini
golf!) and hallelujah, it officially opens for the season on Friday. But be
sure to catch the Family Festival on Saturday—where crafts and games will
abound!
Itching to get out of the city but don’t know where to go? From Boston’s Freedom Trail to West Point, these historic spots are sure to provide some last-minute Memorial planning.
From Bolivia to Madagascar, the American Museum of Natural History is pulling out all the four-legged stops this
weekend! Catch their four-day exhibition, “Frogs: A Chorus of Color” for over
200 rare species.
Cap off Memorial Day with a free (albeit
first-come, first-served) New York Philharmonic concert on Monday. Channel your
inner Beethoven!
The Fleet Week fun at The Intrepid seems
endless when there are ships, smiling sailors and Broadway performances (like Rain:
A Tribute To The Beatles) involved.
Youth (ages 9-17) can slam dunk, shoot
and scrimmage at a Central
Park basketball clinic
this Saturday.
We’re not sure how, but the Manhattan
Children’s Theatre has actually figured out a way to present all 200 works of The Brothers Grimm with only three actors in one hour. Now this…we HAVE to see.
