Applause New York 20th Anniversary Gala

Applause New York, one of the city’s premiere programs for the performing arts–for all kids ages 0-18, from babies just starting to explore movement to teenagers getting serious about their passions in the arts–is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a fabulous gala this Friday! Audiences will enjoy a performance with a live performance by staff, students, and some famous Applause alumni. (Friday)

New York Family's Big Camp Fairs

Join us at the city's biggest camp fairs this weekend in Tribeca on Saturday, March 7, and in Park Slope, Brooklyn, on Sunday, March 8. The Camp Fairs are free, child-friendly, and feature all kinds of Day Camps (in and around the city) and Sleepaway Camps (all over the Northeast). Essentially, the Camp Fairs are a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to chat with lots of Camp Directors in one convenient local setting, and ask questions about the kinds of camps that might be right for their family. "Pilobolus Rules!" at BAM

Families will get an inside look at how Pilobolus Dance Theater puts together its acrobatic dance pieces during the 50-minute show "Pilobolus Rules!" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music this weekend. The dance troupe will also perform four of its most popular numbers with the help of the audience. (Saturday and Sunday)

New York Theatre Ballet: "GOOSE!" at Florence Gould Hall

The New York Theatre Ballet will perform Keith Michael’s “GOOSE!” as a part of the “Once Upon a Ballet” series. Audiences will be enthralled as their favorite nursery rhyme characters like Little Bo Peep, Jack and Jill, Little Miss Muffet, and others dance across the stage in this whimsical production. "Robin Hood" at the Galli Theater

Robin Hood steals from the rich and gives to the poor, and when King Goldnose begins collecting taxes from village residents, Robin Hood hinders his plans. This interactive show takes audiences to Sherwood Forest where Robin Hood tries to right the wrongs of the greedy and restore hope in the hearts of many. Kids who sign up for the post-show workshop will participate in drama games with one of the actors before putting on their own version of the show. (Saturday)

A Celebration of Walter Dean Myers at Symphony Space

Celebrate the legacy of the beloved young adult author Walter Dean Myers with the Thalia Kids’ Book Club at Symphony Space. Join writers Jacqueline Woodson, Sharon Creech, Avi, Jason Reynolds, Neela Vaswani, Brian Selznick, and Emily Raboteau, who will talk about their mentor and read from his work. Beats, Rhymes and Breaking at Symphony Space

Björk Exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art

This month, check out the Museum of Modern Art’s retrospective of Björk, the singer, composer, and producer, which draws from her eight full-length albums as well as her collaborations with artists, directors, photographers, and musicians. The exhibit will also include a brand-new immersive music and film experience commissioned by the museum, which alongside instruments, a theatrical presentation, photography, and video, will tell the story of Björk’s music and creativity in an incredible display. Perfect for older kids with an interest in music and art, this exhibit will inspire and intrigue all ages. (Opens Sunday)

Princesses, Monsters, and Fairies! Oh My! at the Central Park Zoo

Join Central Park Zoo for a costume parade through the zoo! Children ages 3-7 are invited to dress up in their favorite costumes, meet and animal, and make crafts and enrichment treats for one of the zoo’s animals. (Sunday)

The Orchid Show: Chandeliers at the New York Botanical Garden

Don't miss the New York Botanical Garden's recently opened display of hanging orchids in the Orchid Show: Chandeliers. After taking in the beautiful exhibit guests are invited to watch dance, performances, listen to poetry, and engage in hands-on orchid demonstrations. On Saturday at 2pm, Deborah Landau will read orchid-inspired poems from her prize-winning book, Orchidelirium. (Ongoing)

Beatles for Little Rockers- A Children's Workshop with the London Souls

Join the acclaimed rock duo The London Souls at Brooklyn Bowl for a family concert featuring classic songs by the Beatles. Presented by the Rock and Roll Playhouse, dedicated to helping children 10 and under develop their music skills and appreciation, the workshop will also feature a magical art activity and a guest appearance by a Big Kid Rocker.
