Of all the world’s annual film events, the Tribeca Film Festival is one that makes a special effort to attract families. Kid-friendly movie options at this year’s festival include “Beetlejuice,” “Lil Bub & Friendz,” and “The Smurfs.” On Sunday, April 21, Downtown Youth Behind the Camera will screen shorts by local elementary and middle schoolers. The free Family Festival Street Fair on Saturday, April 27, will feature live Broadway performances, arts and crafts, story telling, kite flying, a bubble garden, puppet shows, and much more. Kids can even present their own “movie pitch” in front of a green screen. The Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day, also free and on April 27, will allow fans of all ages to meet their favorite New York athletes and mascots, and participate in sports, games, and giveaways. The Tribeca Film Festival runs from April 17 to 28. tribecafilm.com/family
