The circus meets the theater when the Fred Garbo Inflatable Theatre floats onto the Kingsborough Performing Arts Center stage this month.
On Nov. 14, pneumatic wizard Fred Garbo and Brazilian ballerina Daielma Santos bring their seamless program, which combines physical comedy, dance, juggling, and most important, their own creative inventions that inflate, to the Manhattan Beach stage.
The concert begins when a 10-foot cylinder slithers onto the stage and implodes, and before long the entire audience is playing catch with gigantic inflatable props. The big blow-up shapes shimmer, balloon, deflate and bounce in a rainbow of colors. Fred Garbo and Daielma Santos inhabit this enchanting world with tremendous aplomb and skill.
Fast-paced, energetic, engaging and theatrically clever, Garbo and Santos mesmerize their audience with imaginative imagery and humor.
The two have captivated audiences around the world with their innovative show, appearing on David Letterman’s Late Show, at the New Victory Theater on Broadway, and the Hong Kong International Arts Carnival.
Lucky for you, it’s now in your own backyard.
