It’s opening day of Union Square’s Summer in the Square series, which means Kids in the Square is underway as well! Head over to the North Pavilion at noon for Baby Loves Disco, a disco dance party that is sure to get your little ones groovin’ to the beat.

Washington Market Park’s summer concert series kicks off tonight at 6pm with Brady Rymer and The Little Band That Could…. His music is upbeat and lively; written to celebrate life and help kids appreciate their differences. His latest CD was inspired by children with autism, but any child will find something to relate

Robbi K and Friends put on an interactive show that helps children learn about various cultures, and what it means to be different. Check her out at Madison Square Park from 10:30 to 11:30am, and learn more here.

Speaking of different; how about eight people who perform songs from Mozart to Madonna…with zero instruments? VocaPeople, the no instrument, all a-capella and beat-boxing group comes to Union Square Park’s North Pavilion at 11am to astound and delight as a part of the Kids in the Square series.

Don’t move from your seat in the North Pavilion because at noon you’ll see Hot Peas & Butter perform, the creative group that combines Latin, Caribbean, jazz, folk, and rock music to create one sweet sound that all will enjoy.

Keep the music going into the night and head to Washington Market Park at 6pm for the Princess Katie and Racer Steve concert. Break out the costumes and rock star gear; kids are encouraged to get dressed up for this pumped up band. Get details here.

Head to Bryant Park for another chance to check out Moey’s Music Party at noon. Your little princess will love all the energy and sequins that go into her performances.

Baby Loves Disco is back in the Loews Regency Hotel at noon. This child-proof disco dance party complete with real DJs spinning classic tunes from the 1970s and ‘80s is sure to have your child dancing to the beat. For a free show, go down to Carroll Park at 2pm for the kickoff of their concert series. Hear Karen K and the Jitterbugs perform their “kindie” hits (a blend of indie and kid music).  Songs like “That’s What I’m Wearing Today” are relatable, hilarious, and very danceable.

Go back to the 1920s and ‘30s with The Wiyos, an old-time American folk music band. Complete with washboards and fedoras, this trio will transport you back in time. They’ll be playing in Madison Square Park from 10:30 to 11:30am– learn more here.
