February 29 comes around but once every four years–and this year, Residence Inn By Marriott hosted festivities around the city on Monday, February 29th in an effort to help New Yorkers make the most out of their extra calendar day. The hotel provided fun, free amenities and events around the city for New Yorkers!
During the bustle of Monday morning rush hour, several passersby did a double take and smiled at the silent disco party in front of the Flatiron building. Inside the tent, dancers with headphones toggled between two different live DJs and simultaneously got down to “Uptown Funk” and “Single Ladies.”
From 6-7 am yogis gathered in Flatiron for a complimentary yoga session followed by a silent disco dance party from 7-10am. Two mobile shave trucks offered hot shaves, massages, mini-manicures, and shoe shines in TriBeCa and Midtown.
Residence Inn even installed Calling Pods in Columbus Circle to offer a space for people to reconnect to friends and family.

The biggest hit was by far the Puppy Party! Guests snuggled and played with five adoptable puppies from the North Shore Animal Rescue League. Marshmallow the turbocharged Labradoodle stole the show as he bowled over all of the other puppies in the pen.
Residence Inn hotels are pet-friendly; so the aim of the puppy party was to help guests de-stress with the help of several furry friends.
“Residence Inn understands that our extended stay guests are accustomed to life on the go, yet place equal value on work, home and fun,” says Diane Mayer, Residence Inn vice president and global brand manager. “Our goal is to provide an opportunity for guests to thrive and experience the comfort elements of the modern home, as well as service and amenities that result in extra ‘found time’ to explore new surroundings and reconnect.”
