Read To Stay Warm!

The weather has finally turned and cold winter days have arrived. So what are you to do when you’re limited to staying inside? Look no further than your local library for a variety of fun
and free winter activities for both you and your children. This year’s crop of
activities is sure to offer something for even the most fickle of your tiny book fans. Here’s a quick run down of some of the many classes, programs, and activities being offered this winter by the New York Public Library. Animal Exploration! Munch and Crunch

Little ones can take a peek inside an animal’s lunchbox to
find out what different critters eat before watching carnivores, herbivores and
omnivores dig in!

Toddler Time

Toddler Time includes a morning of songs, rhymes and stories,
followed by a short playtime.

Winnie-the-Pooh and Friends: The Original Toys

Black History Month, come create an African Flag Banner for display. Children
can listen to stories of African Folklore while they create the flag for one of

your little ones for their first introduction into instruments of all forms.

African Dance

you kiddies to learn the styles and history of African Dance with the master
story-teller and dancer, Caven Calder and a live drummer. Children are taught
African dances and then have the chance to make up their own to show their

Belle da Costa Greene: A Librarian's Legacy

<p>The Morgan Library & Museum will present a major exhibition devoted to the life and career of its inaugural director, Belle da Costa Greene (1879–1950). Widely recognized as an authority on illuminated manuscripts and deeply respected as a cultural heritage executive, Greene was one of the most prominent librarians in American history. The exhibition will trace Greene’s storied life, from her roots in a predominantly Black community in Washington, D.C., to her distinguished career at the helm of one of the world’s great research libraries. Through extraordinary objects―from medieval manuscripts and rare printed books to archival records and portraits―the exhibition will demonstrate the confidence and savvy Greene brought to her roles as librarian, scholar, curator, and cultural executive, and honor her enduring legacy.</p>
