Fun And Frugal Family Entertainment: Broadway And Off-Broadway Discounts

After the busy excitement of the holidays—of gift giving, family gatherings, and celebrating in the New Year—the months that follow almost inevitably feel dull and lackluster. If you’re searching for a fun and affordable way to liven up the winter, look no further than the discounts coming to Broadway and Off-Broadway from January through March! Just be sure to act soon—with so many great bargains, these stellar performances could sell out quickly. Here’s the scoop:

20at20
During the 20 days from January 22 through February 10, Off-Broadway shows participating in 20at20 are selling tickets for just $20. Here’s how it works: 20 minutes before the show, visit the box office for the show you’d like to see and say the words “20 at 20” to get your discounted theater ticket. With 40 performances and multiple showtimes to choose from—including kid-friendly shows like “The Berenstain Bears,” “The Velveteen Rabbit,” and more—this is a steal for all ages. Plus, if you see any seven shows and mail in the ticket stubs, 20at20 will pay for your date night with a free dinner voucher for two at a select NYC restaurant.

Broadway Week and Off-Broadway Week
If you prefer to purchase tickets ahead of time, Broadway Week and Off-Broadway Week are each offering a great opportunity to save: two tickets for the price of one. From January 22 through February 7, Broadway Week presents 2-for-1 tickets to family-fun shows including “Mary Poppins,” “Mamma Mia!” and “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,” among many others. For your discounted tickets, simply go to nycgo.com, select the show you’d like to see, and enter the code BWAYWEEK. Likewise, this 2-for-1 deal is available for some 35 Off-Broadway performances January 29 through February 10 (think Gazillion Bubble Show and “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”).

Kids’ Night On Broadway
For dinner and a show at a reasonable price, National Ambassadors Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan invite you to Kids’ Night On Broadway (KNOB) from February 25 to March 3. During this promotion, for each full-paying adult, your 6 to 18-year-old child is admitted for free. What’s more, KNOB also offers discounted nearby parking and dining at various family-friendly Times Square restaurants. For each adult meal, an accompanying child will receive a free entrée when you present your theater ticket on the evening of the performance. After the show—whether it’s a new hit like “Once” or “Newsies The Musical” or an old favorite like “Annie” or “The Lion King”—grab a souvenir playbill, written entirely by teens, to memorialize your fun and frugal evening.
