National School Choice Week Informs Families About Schools Available in New York

National School Choice Week, which began Sunday and continues through Jan. 26, raises awareness about the different educational opportunities available to families and children in the New York metro area. Over the course of the week, the events throughout Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, and upstate New York aim to help families determine their options for great schools in their area and to celebrate each school’s strengths. Families will learn about the strengths of traditional public schools, charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, online learning, and home education.

Throughout New York, 1,911 events are being planned. These events and activities range from open houses at schools to homeschool information sessions, school fairs, parent nights, school tours, and talent shows. They provide parent-focused resources and promote great education across all types of schools

At Celebrating School Choice on Thursday, Jan. 24 at the New York Academy of Medicine, students, teachers, and supporters will speak about school choice, followed by musical and artistic performances by talented students at a fun and exciting celebration of learning. For more information about School Choice Week, school options in New York, and for more events in your area, visit the School Choice Week website. Some schools have chosen not to put event information on the website, but you can reach out to the schools individually using the interactive map for more details on events in your area.
