March right up

The stage is alive with dance, dance and more dance at the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College this month.

Ballet is featured on March 11 at 2 pm when students and faculty from the School of American Ballet (the academy of New York City Ballet) perform excerpts from “Swan Lake,” “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty.” These brand-new ballerinas, some as little as 6 years old, will also demonstrate a “class,” with training exercises and steps. The show is recommended for ages 4 and up.

The National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica celebrates its 50th anniversary at Brooklyn Center on March 24, at 8 pm, and March 25 at 3 pm. Dancers glide across the stage in vibrant costumes celebrating the music and culture of the West Indies.

March goes out like a lion when the Red Star-Red Army Chorus and Dance Ensemble performs athletic folk dances and sings traditional Russian anthems on March 31 at 8 pm.

Admission on March 11 is free and on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets for the National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica are $36-$45, and tickets for the Red Star performance are $30-$40.
