MacInspires is a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) enrichment center for children ages 7-16. It offers classes, after-school programs, summer camps, and birthday parties.
Full renovations to MacInspires locations in Larchmont and Greenwich, CT, were completed in early July. Both STEAM enrichment centers now include larger classrooms. The stores have become Makerspaces with more than seven activity zones including a Tinker Studio, Microcontroller Zone, Fab Lab, Robotics Tables, and Audio and Visual area.
“We made this renovation so we can really show what we do,” says owner Travis Sluss.
In addition to the renovations, MacInspires has announced its fall schedule, which includes new classes such as 3-D Printing Junior for ages 7-9, Lego Stop Motion for ages 7-9, Intro to Robotics for ages 8-12, Intro to Java for ages 10-14, and Python Programming for ages 12-16.
MacInspires teaches more than 400 students each week and focuses on skills such as coding, 3-D printing, robotics, and moviemaking. There are no more than six students per teacher. Fall and after-school program registration is currently available.
MacInspires also goes beyond its classrooms, helping develop curriculum at local schools and teaching at other camps and libraries, Sluss says.
Kids can chose from a number of different birthday party packages at MacInspires, such as Minecraft, video game design, robotics, 3-D printing, 3-D jewelry design, light sabers, and STEAM themes. Pizza and soda are provided and there are a number of different add-ons to choose from.
MacInspires also offers repair services for electronics such as iPhones, iPads, laptops, Macs, and PCs. All of its repairs comes with a four-month warranty.
