Long Island Nets Debut at NYCB Live

The Long Island Nets made their debut at NYCB Live, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale on Nov. 4 in a game against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

For the first time in 40 years the Long Island Nets, the minor league affiliate team of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, will be bringing a full schedule of professional basketball to Long Island. The team’s 24 home games will be held at NYCB Live.

“We are thrilled to open our first season on Long Island at the newly renovated Coliseum,” says Alton Byrd, vice president of business operations. “There is such a rich basketball tradition in our building dating back to Dr. J’s years with the ABA Champion New York Nets. We will certainly honor that history as we bring professional basketball back home to Long Island.”

The Long Island Nets’ season will run until March 24, 2018. Head coach Ronald Nored will lead the team along with assistant coaches Damian Cotter and Ryan Forehan-Kelly. The team’s home games promise plenty of opportunities for family fun, Byrd says.

“This season, in addition to seeing an amazing basketball product on the court, fans can expect an exciting atmosphere filled with family-friendly activities. While the games are being played, families can enjoy the Kids Zone, where on any given night, there will be face painting, inflatables, and gaming options. We want fans to come back to see the Long Island Nets again and again as we continue to develop our relationship with fans, families, and our surrounding communities,” Byrd says.
